Site Security
While it is true that the internet does not provide an inherently secure
environment for simple "surfing" or general email communications,
intercepting messages sent over the internet is also NOT a simple task.
With the immense volume of traffic travelling via the internet and the
usage of passwords and personal identification numbers (Key Codes),
intercepting and deciphering specific messages requires sophisticated
equipement as well as a great deal of knowledge about the sender and
receivers. Further, with the adaptation of encryption technology to
"scramble" messages, the probability of "hackers" deciphering and gaining
access to email content is even more remote.
Like other forms of communication, internet communication can be made
safe. Internet security is not solely a "technology" issue. Common sense
and normal practice in safeguarding passwords and personal identification
numbers are of equal importance. "Hackers" need a "door" to get into the
system. Often, access through this "door" is provided to "hackers" due to
simple carelessness in the physical distribution of sensitive documents
and the handling of access codes and passwords. Users should handle
sensitive communications over the internet with the same degree of care
used to handle sensitive paper documents. It is also of utmost importance
that users ensure their counter party on the other end of the transmission
treats security equally seriously and has put in place appropriate
procedures to safeguard clients' communications.
BOOM takes security matters very seriously. In addition to putting in
place redundant safety processess and procedures, we have also invested
resources into providing top of the line encryption technology to further
enhance security for our clients. BOOM employs four measures of
security to protect our clients' instruction messages:
Level one - A unique User ID and Password:
When entered together, the ID and passoword will allow you to browse the
BOOM facility. You are required to change your password the first time
you log into the BOOM system to ensure confidentiality.
Level two - A separate Personal Identification Number (Key Code):
The Key Code allows you to access the "Virtual Dealing Room" and must be
entered before you can send instructions to buy or sell securities. The
Key Code is different from the User ID and Password to provide an extra
level of security. The Key Code is also sent to users via regular mail
rather than email to ensure safety. We strongly recommend that all codes
used to access a client's account be kept strictly confidential. These
identifiers are similar to passwords or Key Code numbers that accompany
automated teller machines; they are the clients' responsibility.
Level three - Encryption:
All communication within BOOM's website is protected via encryption techonology.
We use 128-bit encryption, the safest level commercially available by
consumer groups, to encode all communications. Encryption enables clients
that have securely logged on to the BOOM facilities using their User
ID and Password to continuously send encoded information back and forth
across the Internet.
Level four - Handling of personal information and other
procedures:
Personal information such as client bank details and mailing addresses are
kept off line in a separate and non-accessible proprietary computer.
Furthermore, although clients may trade freely against their existing
balances, there is no direct online access to funds or personal
information. For client protection, BOOM requires clients to mail or
deliver in-person appropriately authorized instructions to withdraw or
transfer funds to or from a BOOM account.
All information relating to BOOM clients' is strictly confidential.
Clients are responsible for keeping their User ID, Login Password and
Key Code confidential. We encourage clients to change passwords
periodically. If you suspect a breach in security, please contact BOOM
immediately. In the case where a client lets an unauthorized individual
obtain access to their User ID, Login Password or Key Code, BOOM
cannot be held responsible for any consequences resulting from this
action.
